Google has begun teasing its next budget smartphone, the Pixel 10a, setting Feb. 18 as the pre-order date and offering an early look at a subtly revised design. (Google)
The move gives Google its first official marker for the A-series model — its lower-cost Pixel line — after weeks of leaks. It also puts Google back in the mid-range phone cycle early in the year, where small design tweaks and carrier promos can matter as much as headline specs.
Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai also referenced the Pixel 10a in remarks released alongside the company’s quarterly results, tying it to Google’s push to get its AI features into more devices. “To confirm the rumors, we’ll be introducing our Pixel 10a … very soon,” Pichai said. (Blog)
Google has so far kept the details thin. The company’s teaser focuses on hardware lines, not the usual checklist of camera sensors, chips or price points.

Google’s A-series phones typically target buyers who want Google’s software features and camera processing in a cheaper handset, a slice of the market also chased by Apple’s iPhone SE line and Samsung’s Galaxy A devices.
But the lack of confirmed pricing, specs and a clear shipping date leaves the Pixel 10a’s pitch unfinished. If the phone lands with only minor upgrades — or comes in at a higher price — it risks looking like a cautious refresh in a segment where rivals lean hard on discounts and trade-ins.
For now, Feb. 18 is the only firm date. Google has not said when the Pixel 10a will reach stores beyond that pre-order window.
