- Costco has joined forces with Sesame and IVI RMA North America, rolling out a fertility care program for its members.
- Costco’s pharmacy programs, the partners said, have the potential to slash certain fertility drug prices by as much as 80%.
- Costco members now have access to online fertility support nationwide, starting at $99 per month.
Costco Wholesale on Monday announced a partnership with Sesame—a cash-pay healthcare platform—and fertility clinic operator IVI RMA North America, giving its members access to discounted, coordinated fertility care. Costco members can now get up to 80% off select fertility medications, with the deals coming through the new tie-up.
Costco is folding the new service into its yearly membership, right on the heels of reporting second-quarter net sales up 9.1% to $68.24 billion. Membership-fee revenue also jumped, hitting $1.355 billion.
Fertility treatments aren’t cheap, and access can be slow. Now, Costco members have a new option: for $99 a month, they can tap into online fertility support. According to the company, discounts on medications like Follistim might shave thousands off the total cost per cycle.
Patients start off with Sesame, handling intake, testing, and care coordination before shifting to IVI RMA clinics for more advanced needs like IVF, or in vitro fertilization, if that’s required. Throughout treatment, Sesame clinicians stay on the case, according to the companies.
Costco’s senior vice president of pharmacy, Richard Stephens, said the partnership targets “transparent and affordable solutions” and aims to knock down obstacles that have put fertility treatment out of reach for many families. Business Wire
Sesame CEO David Goldhill said the platform offers patients a way to get reproductive care “without barriers, stigma, or waiting.” IVI RMA North America’s chief executive, Lynn Mason, described the tie-up as a move to broaden access. According to both companies, the program is live across the U.S. Business Wire
Costco has been ramping up its health services with Sesame for over two years now. In 2023, the retailer rolled out discounted access to virtual primary care, therapy sessions, and standard checkups for members via Sesame. By 2024, Reuters noted the partnership had grown to cover weight-loss programs, potentially including drugs like Ozempic and Wegovy.
New health benefits land as Costco’s paid membership count continues to climb. The company finished the latest quarter with 82.1 million paid members, a 4.8% rise from last year, according to Retail Dive on Monday. Costco also reported a 22.6% jump in digitally enabled sales for the quarter.
The latest offer doesn’t clear the steepest cost barrier. Specialty care via IVI RMA remains discounted, not bundled in, and IVF still runs as high as $30,000 per cycle out-of-pocket for some. In-person visits past the initial assessment? Those stick with IVI RMA’s existing network.
Costco is tacking on another healthcare perk to its lineup of member services. The retailer now counts 924 warehouses across the globe.
