Google is pushing out its March Pixel Drop, bringing new Gemini-powered tools to Pixel devices that handle tasks between apps, more shopping features in Circle to Search, and updated safety tools for Pixel Watch. The latest Pixel Update Bulletin, refreshed this week, confirms that eligible devices are also set for the March security patch, version 2026-03-05.
Timing is crucial here, with Google ramping up Pixel’s AI arsenal just as competitors accelerate their own efforts. Back in January, Samsung’s co-CEO T M Roh told Reuters, “We will apply AI to all products, all functions, and all services as quickly as possible.” Google, for its part, confirmed that similar Gemini-powered features will also arrive on Samsung’s Galaxy S26 series. Things aren’t getting easier in the market. IDC is projecting a 12.9% drop in global smartphone shipments in 2026, blaming rising memory prices. Francisco Jeronimo, IDC’s vice president for worldwide client devices, didn’t mince words, calling it “a tsunami-like shock originating in the memory supply chain.” Against that, users hanging on to older phones might find more value in software-driven upgrades. Among the bigger features, Google is rolling out a Gemini beta—essentially a test release—capable of handling multi-step actions within certain apps. Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, and Pixel 10 Pro XL owners will be able to use Gemini to do things like reorder groceries, book a ride, or quickly repeat a food order, all while keeping tabs on notifications or pausing the process if needed. Google plans to bring the same capability to Samsung’s Galaxy S26 lineup, starting in the U.S. and South Korea.
Google’s Circle to Search tool is getting a broader rollout. Now, users can highlight several items at once in an image, shop for individual pieces of an outfit on Pixel 10 devices, and hit a new “Try It On” button for select products. Magic Cue, meanwhile, picks up the ability to suggest restaurants within a chat. Blog
Google said its At a Glance feature is picking up new updates for more Pixel users, including commute, sports, and finance information, plus five AI-generated icon styles for the home screen. Also, connected-display desktop mode is now out of beta—it’s officially supported in Android 16 QPR3, the newest quarterly update, for Pixel and Samsung phones when hooked up to external monitors.
Google says it’s rolling out Scam Detection in the Phone app to users in France, Italy, Spain, Mexico, Germany and Japan. Call Notes—used for recording and transcribing calls for later—will be available in India, but only on supported Pixel 10 models.
Google’s Pixel Watch lineup is picking up a few new tricks. Now, if you walk away from your phone, the watch will alert you—and your phone will lock as soon as it loses Bluetooth connection. The March update brings Find Hub to the watch, pushes one-handed gesture support from the Pixel Watch 4 down to Pixel Watch 3, and rolls out Express Pay—tap-to-pay without needing to open Google Wallet—on Pixel Watch 2 and up. Satellite SOS support on Pixel Watch 4 is also broadening to cover Canada, Europe, Alaska, and Hawaii.
Google’s March 2026 Pixel Update Bulletin, last revised March 9, specifies that every supported Pixel will get patch level 2026-03-05. Among the highlights: critical patches for modem, baseband, and bootloader vulnerabilities, plus a range of high- and moderate-risk bugs addressed.
The headline features don’t reach everyone at once. Google notes Gemini app actions remain in beta. Several additions are only for the Pixel 10 lineup or available in specific countries and languages. Certain watch safety tools also require the latest hardware and regional backing. Broader access is coming, but it’ll take weeks.
Google seems to be casting a wider net than just its Pixel lineup. Gemini app actions and connected-display perks are landing on Samsung phones as well, with the March rollout underscoring Pixel’s ongoing role as Google’s experimental hub for Android features before they fan out to more devices.
