OnePlus Ace 6 Ultra Launch Date Is Set — And Its Gaming Controller Changes the Pitch

Shenzhen, April 20, 2026, 21:32 (China Standard Time)

  • OnePlus is rolling out the Ace 6 Ultra in China on April 28, paired with a snap-on gaming controller debuting the same day.
  • Players get physical triggers, more grip buttons, plus cooling and charging support during gameplay with the accessory.
  • Full specs, price, and where it’ll be sold worldwide haven’t been announced yet.

OnePlus is set to roll out the Ace 6 Ultra in China on April 28, with a 7 p.m. local launch. The phone comes with a snap-on gaming controller, transforming it into something closer to a handheld console, according to teasers the company shared and tech blogs picked up Monday. Reports have referred to the accessory’s translated name as either OnePlus Strix or Strix G15.

The timing is key here—OnePlus isn’t simply launching a high-end Android device. The company is pitching a hybrid gaming concept: on its own, the phone’s just a standard smartphone, but once it snaps into the controller, the setup takes on a console-style feel. That approach positions the Ace 6 Ultra nearer to the standalone mobile gaming category, yet it stops short of turning the phone into a gaming-first machine.

The controller comes in white, featuring orange rear triggers and grips along each side. Physical buttons have been added for key functions like aiming and shooting, but movement and camera control remain tied to the phone’s touchscreen—no full joysticks on the accessory, Gadgets360 notes.

Speed is front and center for OnePlus this time. The company touts a 1,000Hz polling rate on the controller—so it scans for input 1,000 times every second. Trigger response clocks in at 1.8 milliseconds. There’s mention of micro-mechanical switches, plus a dedicated gaming antenna. Charging while in use looks covered thanks to a bottom USB-C port, and the device supports either an external or magnetic cooling fan, according to reports.

Reports point to the Ace 6 Ultra featuring a 6.78-inch—maybe closer to 6.8-inch—1.5K OLED display running at 165Hz, with MediaTek’s Dimensity 9500 at the core. Battery details are still circling in the 8,500mAh to 8,600mAh zone, paired with 100W wired charging. OnePlus has publicly locked in the 165Hz BOE-made screen; the rest of the specs, for now, are still unofficial.

Earlier this month, OnePlus China President Li Jie Louis gave a first look at the phone. According to Android Authority, OnePlus touted the BOE display as delivering “an esports-optimized viewing experience that meets desktop gaming monitor standards.” The device features an “Ace Awakening” finish, a reflective Ace logo, and a metal camera block on the rear. Camera specs—50MP main, 8MP ultrawide, 16MP up front—aren’t stealing the show here. OnePlus is putting its marketing muscle behind the display refresh, grip, heat handling, and touch response instead.

The competitive squeeze is obvious here. RedMagic’s 11 Pro pitches hard on liquid cooling, a hefty 7,500mAh battery, and hardware angled at gamers. Lenovo and Redmi, for their part, are leaning into gaming controllers and accessory bundles. OnePlus has picked a different track: stick with a modular approach—use the phone as usual, then snap on the controller for shooters or marathon play.

But uncertainty lingers. OnePlus is holding back on price details for the controller, hasn’t shared if it’ll sell separately, or spelled out which phones will work with it. The company also hasn’t said if the Ace 6 Ultra will ship outside China. According to Notebookcheck, the global picture is still up in the air, and as Gadgets360 pointed out, Oppo’s China pre-order page hasn’t filled in the blanks on specs either.

OnePlus faces a tricky crowd: mobile gamers likely have their own controllers by now, and casual shoppers probably won’t want to carry around anything bulky. Where the price lands will determine if this is a practical extra or just another bit of launch-day fanfare tied to a high-performance phone.

April 20, 2026, 9:43 AM EDT. CoatingSolution4U, a South Korean deep-tech startup, won the Bronze Edison Award in the Materials Science category for SlurryXpert, an inline, Physical AI-powered diagnostic system that tracks electrode slurry states in real time during battery manufacturing. Proprietary sensors placed between mixing and coating stages capture pressure and impedance data; an AI algorithm analyzes the signals to flag anomalies before they become defects. The system requires no hardware modification to production lines and delivers results in real time. The technology family also includes PlasticXpert, extending to plastic compounding and recycling, with potential applications in cosmetics and pharmaceuticals. The company, founded in 2023 by Prof. Kyung Hyun Ahn, is eyeing global expansion, holds multiple patents, and operates a U.S. subsidiary in San Jose.
