Nintendo Finally Confirms the Zelda Amiibo Fans Have Been Waiting For — Here’s the Release Date

KYOTO, May 12, 2026, 22:03 (JST)

  • Nintendo locked in Sept. 17, 2026 for the release of the Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Mineru’s Construct amiibo.
  • Poseable arms let you adjust the figure, and it also unlocks some in-game items—one is a unique paraglider fabric.
  • Nintendo’s Zelda rollout stays in focus for investors, with eyes on Switch 2 pricing and how software demand holds up.

Nintendo has set Sept. 17 as the release date for the The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Mineru’s Construct amiibo, a collector’s item the company first hinted at more than a year back, and a fresh addition to one of its most lucrative franchises. According to Nintendo’s U.S. store page, the figure is scheduled to launch on Sept. 17, 2026.

The timing isn’t random—Nintendo dropped the update right on the third anniversary of Tears of the Kingdom, a clear move as it works to maintain Zelda momentum across both Switch and the upcoming Switch 2. Over in Japan, Nintendo’s website confirmed preorders are live on My Nintendo Store, with other shops set to follow once they’ve finished prepping.

Nintendo’s latest amiibo figure — part of the company’s NFC-enabled lineup — lets players tap into games using near-field communication. The Mineru amiibo comes with movable arms and can hand out random in-game items when used in Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment, Breath of the Wild, or Tears of the Kingdom. There’s also a shot at scoring a unique paraglider fabric for Link in Tears of the Kingdom.

Nintendo Everything highlighted that the paraglider fabric glows in the dark—at least in part. Over in Japan, Nintendo added that the arms are flexible enough for buyers to pose the figure however they want. So, there’s a display angle here, not just the in-game functionality.

Nintendo Wire noted the figure appeared within the Nintendo Today app, which pushes out news and updates, but their first report didn’t mention a price tag. Later, Nintendo Life spotted U.S. pre-purchases open at $34.99 on Nintendo’s site.

Nintendo is expanding its amiibo lineup again. Mineru’s Construct is now featured on the company’s U.S. lineup page, appearing next to new and upcoming releases for Kirby, Splatoon, and other flagship series. The move signals Nintendo has kept the amiibo series alive through the Switch 2 window, with no signs of letting it slip.

Nintendo stock tumbled 7% in Tokyo on Monday after the company pushed up Switch 2 prices and doubts surfaced about its upcoming game lineup, according to Reuters. Investors are zeroing in on whether Nintendo can sustain momentum following its recent strong hardware debut. Morningstar’s Kazunori Ito said slashing annual shipment guidance could be read as a sign the company isn’t as confident in its game slate, but called that reading “too pessimistic.” Reuters

That’s why a simple plastic figurine still carries weight. Mineru isn’t a headline-grabber, yet it keeps Zelda circulating, offers collectors another item to chase, and bridges older Switch titles with Switch 2 compatibility. Nintendo, facing pressure to flesh out its upcoming lineup, benefits from every bit of continuity right now.

Rivals have zeroed in on the consumer-spending squeeze, though their vantage points differ. On Monday, Sony shares picked up after the company projected weaker gaming revenues but stronger profits — a contrast to Nintendo. Reuters noted Sony’s broader business lines offered some cushion. Meanwhile, Amir Anvarzadeh at Asymmetric Advisors argued that Sony could more easily shift pricier memory-chip costs to buyers.

Supply could be the swing factor here—Nintendo hasn’t said how many Mineru figures will hit the market. Collectors know hardware launches can skew fast if the first wave is scarce. With the figure slated for September, retailer decisions and preorder caps might end up carrying as much weight as the launch date does.

Nintendo says players using the Switch 2 will scan amiibo figures by tapping them to the NFC spot on the new Joy-Con 2’s right stick, or the NFC area on the Switch 2 Pro Controller. So the same figures still work with the full lineup—not just tacked on for the last phase of the original Switch.
