- Supercell rolled out maintenance on April 28, addressing a handful of Brawl Stars bugs—among them, problems with exclusive cosmetics in the Oddities Shop and a glitch tied to the Ultra Trophy Box.
- Even after maintenance wrapped, players continued to see blank Oddities Shop pages, icons that wouldn’t load, and other issues.
- Now the fight is over compensation—specifically Bling, Supercell’s in-game currency tied to cosmetics and shop bundles.
Supercell’s April 28 Brawl Stars maintenance addressed bugs affecting the recently launched Oddities Shop and Ultra Trophy Box. Still, players flooded forums with complaints about blank shop pages and malfunctioning menus, leaving the Helsinki-based developer facing ongoing criticism well after the scheduled downtime wrapped up.
This isn’t just a minor update—the Oddities Shop sits at the heart of Supercell’s sweeping April overhaul. Bling, which players once used freely in the old catalog, now funnels into rotating daily bundles for skins, pins, sprays, icons, and boxes. The change folds Oddities Shop right into the core shop experience.
When the shop goes down in a live-service mobile game, daily routines get disrupted. Brawl Stars, available for free, relies on in-app purchases and randomized loot, while the Google Play page highlights daily events, new seasonal additions, and rotating deals.
Supercell’s April 28 update tackled a handful of shop glitches: exclusive cosmetics were popping up in the Oddities Shop by mistake, duplicate pins, sprays, and icons slipped into skin bundles, and there was an Ultra Trophy Box glitch that didn’t deliver the promised Epic skin.
Yet for many returning players, the Oddities Store wasn’t fixed. According to PiunikaWeb, users encountered the message, “Ain’t a single oddity left: You’re a menace with that wallet.” Screenshots circulated showing blank resource icons, warped menus, and empty paid-offer areas. PiunikaWeb
Sportsdunia noted the April 28 maintenance wrap-up, yet flagged ongoing player issues—loading bugs and a stale Oddities Shop—pointing to posts on Reddit and X.
Supercell moved to address a previous issue with exclusive cosmetics. According to EGW, the company aimed to remove cosmetics that had been distributed by mistake and pay back affected players: those who bought the items in the Oddities Shop would get the full price refunded—between 750 and 1,500 Bling. For anyone who got the cosmetics via drops or boxes, Supercell planned to credit 600 Bling per item. A separate 1,000 Bling was promised for players who weren’t caught up in the bug.
Brawl Stars flagged a separate compensation route tied to the Ultra Trophy Box bug. According to the account on X, the promised Epic skin drop failed to deliver, so after the scheduled maintenance break, all players are set to get another 5,000 Bling.
That goes a long way toward accounting for the swift backlash from players. Bling, designed to open up more cosmetic options, lost some of its appeal as certain players built up large balances and already owned more skins, Supercell said earlier this month.
Competition at Supercell is largely an in-house affair. The studio’s lineup—Clash of Clans, Clash Royale, Boom Beach, and Brawl Stars—leans on players returning daily. But in Brawl Stars, a glitch in the shop is disrupting one of the core habits that draws users back.
Supercell faces a tricky situation: patching up item ownership on the back end might not be enough if players still see empty or glitchy storefronts. Should the upcoming shop refresh fail to fix the offers, expect complaints to pivot—from players disputing what they got by mistake, to what they claim is now missing.
Supercell hasn’t flagged another maintenance window since the April 28 fixes listed in its release notes. On the technical side, the company says it’s patched part of the cosmetic entitlement issue, but the real check is still happening in the player shop.
