Lithium price jumps after Zimbabwe export ban jolts China futures and mining stocks

China’s lithium carbonate futures jumped 6.07% to 178,020 yuan per ton after Zimbabwe halted exports of raw minerals and lithium concentrates with immediate effect. The ban, which includes cargoes in transit, disrupted supply to China, which received most of Zimbabwe’s 1.128 million tons of lithium concentrate exports last year. Shares of Chinese miners with Zimbabwe exposure fell as firms assessed the impact.
