Rolls-Royce SMR Project Moves Closer to Wylfa Build After £300 Million Contract Award
Great British Energy-Nuclear awarded a contract worth up to £300 million to an Amentum-Cavendish Nuclear joint venture for the Wylfa small modular reactor project in North Wales. The 14-year agreement will support deployment of Rolls-Royce SMR technology. Britain selected Rolls-Royce SMR for the site in 2025, with the first units planned for the mid-2030s. Rolls-Royce expects regulatory design approval by December 2026.
