January 9, 2026, 10:04 PM EST. Florida's Space Coast remains a launch hub. After a record-setting 2025, Cape Canaveral began 2026 with two Starlink missions from SpaceX. A Falcon 9 lifted Jan. 4 from Launch Complex 40 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station for Starlink 6-88, followed by a Jan. 9 flight as a smoke plume rose from a nearby 1,400-acre prescribed burn at the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge.
