Požár v německé laboratoři GSI v Darmstadtu narušil testovací plány urychlovače FAIR
A fire broke out at the GSI Helmholtz Center in Darmstadt on February 5, forcing evacuation and delaying the FAIR particle accelerator project indefinitely. Officials blamed a high-voltage short circuit; no injuries or hazardous releases were reported. About 130 firefighters responded. Damage affected cables, electrical equipment, and office furniture, but the new building site was untouched.
