  • Tesla to end Model S and Model X by Q2 2026, Musk says
January 28, 2026, 9:54 PM EST. Tesla will discontinue the Model S and Model X by the end of Q2 2026, CEO Elon Musk announced on the Q4 2025 earnings call. The flagship models-launched in 2012 and 2015-have seen demand erode as competition improved. Tesla stopped breaking out S/X deliveries in 2023, lumping them with other models; 2025 numbers were likely around 30,000 for the pair when excluding the Cybertruck and Semi. Fremont has about 100,000 units of annual capacity, but utilization has been far lower for years. A modest 2024-25 refresh failed to reinvigorate sales. The move ends an era and shifts focus to higher-volume products; rivals such as Lucid and Rivian have narrowed the gap. Musk cited Autonomy as the rationale.
