  • Corning bets on data-center fiber as AI drives demand; a rival to Nvidia in 2026
    January 10, 2026, 1:32 AM EST. Artificial intelligence is lifting demand across the data-center stack, widening the winners beyond Nvidia. Corning supplies fiber-optic cables that move data between GPUs, CPUs and switches faster than copper. Chief Executive Wendell Weeks says the optical-fiber addressable market for data centers could double or triple as AI expands. Nvidia remains central to AI compute, but Corning's stock climbed about 84% last year on optimism around fiber demand. Nvidia stock rose about 39% in 2025. Corning is set to report Q4 2025 results on Jan. 28, with full-year revenue seen at around $16.3 billion, up 13% year over year, led by optical segments. The trend could extend into 2026 as AI infrastructure expands, increasing demand for optical fiber and related components.
