Microsoft’s market value topped $4 trillion after Azure revenue beat forecasts and the company announced $30 billion in AI-cloud spending this quarter. Meta shares jumped 11.3% on earnings, adding $200 billion in value. Palo Alto Networks will acquire CyberArk for $25 billion. The S&P 500 remains near record highs, up about 6% year to date, led by mega-cap tech and AI stocks.

Microsoft’s market value topped $4 trillion in early August after strong quarterly results and heavy AI investment, with shares closing up 4–5%. Nvidia briefly reached a $4.4 trillion valuation in July. Meta stock jumped 11% after forecasting higher ad revenue driven by AI. Meta projected Q3 revenue above consensus, while Microsoft reported Azure revenue up 39% year-over-year. Palo Alto Networks announced a $25 billion acquisition of CyberArk Software. Arm Holdings fell 8% after lowering its outlook.

Bitcoin handlet steady near $118,000, set for a fourth straight monthly gain. Altcoins dropped sharply, with XRP, SOL, and ADA down over 3% in 24 hours and Dogecoin, Avalanche, and Sui falling more than 5%. Ether traded near $3,800, little changed. Total crypto market value hovered close to $4 trillion as Bitcoin’s market share increased.

Over 80,000 BTC, inactive since 2011, were sold OTC for about $9 billion last week, facilitated by Galaxy Digital with no major on-chain movement. Bitcoin traded near $117,948 and Ethereum near $3,800 on July 28. Marathon Digital raised $950 million in convertible notes, aiming to boost its BTC holdings to 50,000. PayPal launched Pay with Crypto, letting U.S. merchants accept over 100 cryptocurrencies with instant USD conversion.

Tesla and Samsung signed a $16.5 billion contract for next-gen AI chip production at Samsung’s Texas plant. OpenAI seeks up to $40 billion in new funding led by SoftBank, targeting a $300 billion valuation. Nvidia placed orders for 300,000 H20 GPUs at TSMC after eased China export rules. Alphabet reported Q2 revenue of $96.4 billion, up 14%, with net income rising 19% on AI and cloud growth.

A Bitcoin whale sold 80,000 BTC ($9 billion) in a single transfer July 26–27, briefly pushing BTC below $115,000 before recovery; Galaxy Digital confirmed the sale was for estate planning. Ethereum rose about 50% in July as US spot ETH ETFs saw $4.6 billion in inflows. XRP hit $3.60, then dropped 14% after a Ripple co-founder moved 50 million XRP to exchanges. WOO X lost $14 million in a July 24 hack.

C3.ai shares fell 11% after CEO Thomas Siebel announced his resignation for health reasons; Siebel will remain chairman. SoundHound AI closed at $11.71 Friday, down 40% year-to-date despite 151% revenue growth in Q1. BigBear.ai stock has surged 82% in 2025, trading near $8, fueled by defense-sector AI demand and recent leadership changes.
