    January 19, 2026, 11:56 AM EST. Gartner projects global AI spending to hit $2.52 trillion in 2026, up 44% from 2025. Much of the growth stems from AI infrastructure, with servers engineered for AI set to rise about 49% and account for roughly 17% of total AI outlay. The report says AI infrastructure construction will add about $401 billion in 2026. Investments will lean on organizational maturity and proven business value rather than pilots. Gartner places AI in the "trough of disillusionment" before a "plateau of productivity," and expects sales mainly through existing software vendors rather than standalone ventures. Only when ROI becomes more predictable can AI scale in larger organizations.
