February 9, 2026, 10:56 PM EST. Apple set a migration deadline for the legacy HomeKit architecture, with the update required by tomorrow, February 10, 2026. The update moves users to a new Home architecture designed to improve reliability as Matter support rolled out. Apple first introduced the change in iOS 16.2 and reinforced it in 16.4; the migration was optional while devices ran 16.2+. Last May Apple said iOS 19 would be the last system version to support the old architecture, with a fallback to fall 2025, then delayed to February 2026. To avoid interruptions with critical alerts and AirPlay-enabled accessories, users have been warned to update. How to: open the Home app, tap More, go to Home Settings, Software Update, Update Now; all homes update together. See Apple support for details.

Tests on the Samsung Galaxy S24 FE showed some Galaxy AI features stop working locally if Google’s AICore system service is disabled, shifting processing to the cloud. Samsung says most AI functions still rely on cloud servers, though users can toggle local-only processing. Disabling AICore did not improve speed and left storage use unchanged. Some features, like Circle to Search, continued to work.
