January 9, 2026, 6:50 AM EST. Caterham, the tiny British maker known for the Lotus Seven, is bringing its electric two-door sports car, the Project V, to the United States. Debuting in Las Vegas at CES 2026, the car goes on sale in the U.S. next year. The production version features a rear 268-hp (200-kW) electric motor, a 55-kWh dual-module battery, a NACS charging port, and a WLTP range of 249 miles with a max 100 kW charge rate. The company aims to keep costs down by using off-the-shelf parts, including an e-motor from Yamaha and battery from Xing Mobility. Inside there is a small touchscreen and analog instruments; safety basics include ABS, traction control and airbags. Caterham's representative says America will be a priority, and the focus is on discharge time rather than charging time.
