McDonald’s Brings McGriddles to UK Breakfast Menu 23 Years After U.S. Debut

LONDON, March 12, 2026, 23:25 GMT

Starting March 17, McDonald’s is rolling out Sausage & Egg McGriddles across the UK and Ireland—marking the first official local launch of this classic U.S. breakfast staple. The sandwich lands on menus for a limited stretch, with a suggested price tag of £3.99, although actual prices may differ depending on the restaurant.

This shift carries weight as McDonald’s continues to push value deals and limited-time promos, aiming to draw in price-sensitive diners. Back in February, the chain reported steady demand in Britain, and Northcoast Research’s Jim Sanderson noted McDonald’s needs to keep riding “marketing and value promotions” to maintain “positive and growing” traffic. Britain’s breakfast scene is packed with competition. Greggs, the nation’s largest fast-food chain, flagged sluggish consumer confidence as a drag on sales this month. But in 2024, the bakery reported it had leapfrogged McDonald’s to become Britain’s leading breakfast seller.

McDonald’s is rolling out a UK and Ireland take on its US classic, featuring a sausage patty, free-range egg, and cheese, all stacked in maple-infused griddle cakes. Sweet, savoury — a signature American combo, now tweaked for local tastes. The eggs, the company says, are RSPCA Assured and come from British and Irish free-range farms.

The launch lands alongside a delivery deal: order at least £15 worth of breakfast from McDelivery between March 13 and March 29 and snag £3 off your bill. Offer’s tied to the app, available times, and participating restaurants.

McGriddles are set to join McDonald’s UK menu in March as part of a broader refresh. The chain confirmed the lineup will feature a Cadbury Mini Eggs Frappe—available through the app exclusively for the first week—plus a Cadbury Mini Eggs McFlurry. Spicy McNuggets and the Double Big Mac are also making a return.

McGriddles landed in the U.S. back in 2003, McDonald’s corporate records show. Over in the UK, the chain stirred up speculation earlier this week, dropping a blind taste-test video on Instagram before making the launch official on Thursday.

Plenty could still go wrong with the launch. McDonald’s has limited the item to a short window and just select locations, and with households watching their wallets, breakfast splurges aren’t guaranteed; eMarketer’s Sky Canaves pointed out last year that dining out is often one of the first things lower-income consumers skip.

McDonald’s has been in the UK since 1974 and currently has over 1,560 outlets in the UK and Ireland, according to company materials. The brand sees more than 3 million customers every day—plenty of foot traffic to gauge how the new item does once the initial excitement fades.

  • Artemis II splashdown: how NASA plans a safe return to Earth
April 10, 2026, 6:48 PM EDT. NASA plans to return the Artemis II crew to Earth on April 10, 2026, with splashdown in the Orion spacecraft. During reentry, the capsule faces temperatures of thousands of degrees as the heat shield absorbs the heat. After Artemis I showed the shield sustained more damage than expected, engineers mapped a new atmospheric trajectory for Artemis II. Splashdown remains water-based, supported by Navy recovery teams. The story echoes historic lessons from Gus Grissom's 1961 Liberty Bell 7 flight, where a hatch issue triggered a dramatic sea rescue. In short, deceleration, orientation, and shield integrity are the linchpins of a safe return to Earth.
