  • Ohio bill would ban AI personhood and AI marriages
October 22, 2025, 2:30 PM EDT. Ohio Rep. Thaddeus Claggett introduced House Bill 469 to bar AI systems from attaining legal personhood, labeling them nonsentient entities and prohibiting marriages between humans and AI or AI-AI pairings. The bill would deny AI the right to own property, manage bank accounts, or serve as company executives, and would hold humans responsible for any harm caused by AI. Claggett says the aim is to keep humans in control as AI grows more capable, while lawmakers debate how new technologies challenge concepts of personhood and liability. The proposal comes as AI use expands in education, business, and personal life, fueling concerns about emotional attachments to chatbots and the blurred lines between people and programs.

  • Gboard update lets you hide the period and comma keys on Android
October 22, 2025, 2:26 PM EDT. Gboard's latest Android update adds new Settings → Preferences toggles to hide the Comma key and Period key (Show on keyboard for applicable languages). The options are enabled by default, continuing a long-standing layout choice. When you switch them off, the bottom row simplifies to ?123 and the Enter key, creating a noticeably wider space bar. You can still insert a period by double-pressing the space bar. Disabling the comma is an unusual move, but you can keep the Emoji key for a more symmetric design. The rollout is hitting both beta and stable channels with Gboard 16.0+.
