  • China Finalizes 294 National Standards, Elevates EV Battery Safety with GB 38031-2025 'No Fire, No Explosion' Rule
December 27, 2025, 8:26 AM EST. China has completed the formulation and revision of 294 national standards across 13 sectors, with electric-vehicle power-battery safety requirements upgraded to mandatory status for the first time. The standards, issued under a joint action plan and announced by the State Administration for Market Regulation and CCTV, aim to upgrade energy efficiency, strengthen product quality and safety, and expand standards for recycling and circular utilization. In energy efficiency, 113 standards were updated, including updated mandatory energy consumption limits to curb outdated production. Separate groups address boilers, electric motors, and transformers, while a block of 115 standards aligns with everyday life. The package centers on the GB 38031-2025 rule: No Fire, No Explosion for EV batteries.
