  • Samsung ends Galaxy Ring probe; swelling blamed on molding crack, not battery
    January 8, 2026, 8:06 AM EST. Samsung has concluded its investigation into the Galaxy Ring incident that sent tech creator Daniel (@ZONEofTECH) to hospital in October. The company says swelling stemmed from a crack in the ring's internal molding, not the battery. An independent external agency reviewed Samsung's findings and arrived at the same conclusion. Samsung said there is no broader battery safety risk to the Galaxy Ring lineup and that the device is designed for everyday wear. Officials could not determine what caused the molding crack, but the company emphasized ongoing safety. Samsung maintained it remained in contact with Daniel during the process and noted the incident did not reflect a systemic issue with the product.
