  • How many iPhones can connect to Apple CarPlay at once?
    January 7, 2026, 11:44 PM EST. Wireless CarPlay lets multiple iPhone devices pair with a car's infotainment system, but only one can drive CarPlay at a time. Wired CarPlay generally does not support multi-device pairing. Availability and limits vary by maker. BMW says up to eight devices can pair, yet only one iPhone can run CarPlay; switching is done in the car's devices menu by stopping CarPlay on one iPhone and starting it on another. Some Lexus models add a dual Bluetooth feature, letting two iPhone devices connect, but the second uses the car's system for calls and texts rather than CarPlay. To ease shared listening, SharePlay lets passengers control playback for iOS 17+ with an Apple Music subscription; Spotify users can use Jam for group listening.
