Oppo has pulled the wraps off its Find X9 Ultra, giving the most detailed look yet before the phone’s April 21 global launch—the first time the Ultra series goes international. Preview articles out this week, plus Oppo’s own teasers, highlight a big camera revamp: dual 200-megapixel sensors, a 50MP telephoto with 10x optical zoom, and a leather-finished back.
If Oppo launches the X9 Ultra globally, it’ll jump into the top-tier mix alongside Samsung’s Galaxy S26 Ultra, Apple’s iPhone 17 Pro Max, and Vivo’s X300 Ultra. The company called the X9 Ultra its first Ultra model heading for international release.
Oppo isn’t mincing words in the run-up to launch. Pete Lau, chief product officer, declared the handset is “going global.” Elvis Zhou, who heads Oppo Europe, called the Ultra tag something that “must be earned” and pitched the phone as setting a fresh standard for imaging. Android Central
Android Authority and Android Central, in their first hands-on looks, highlight a design shift that sets this device apart from both the Find X8 Ultra and the X9 lineup. Notably, they point to vegan leather making a comeback, plus a rear split into two distinct panels. There’s orange metal wrapping the oversized camera ring and camera button, while the camera bump itself sits dead center, aiming to keep the phone steady on flat surfaces.
Oppo’s camera setup looks stacked: teasers and early hands-ons point to a 14mm–230mm focal range, f/1.5–f/3.5 apertures, and two 200MP sensors in the mix. There’s also a 50MP ultra-wide, plus a 50MP telephoto with true 10x optical zoom—so you’re getting that reach straight from the lens, not from digital cropping.
Oppo’s ramping up its Hasselblad partnership. Both TechRadar and PhoneArena report plans for an “Earth Explorer” edition that takes cues from the Hasselblad X2D, plus an add-on long lens accessory—users could hit roughly 400mm of reach with it. TechRadar
The pitch is simple: Samsung goes big on the Galaxy S26 Ultra’s 200MP camera, Apple touts a record telephoto in the iPhone 17 Pro Max, and Android Central’s early look sets up Vivo’s X300 Ultra as another heavyweight in the camera-centric Android race for 2026. Oppo, for its part, leans into more sensors and native zoom.
This is a departure from the previous cycle. Oppo’s Find X8 Ultra was pitched with a dual-periscope system featuring 3x and 6x optical zoom. In contrast, T3 highlights that the Find X9 Ultra goes for a 10x optical telephoto and pairs it with dual 200MP sensors—a clear leap in hardware.
Key details are still missing. Oppo hasn’t revealed pricing or laid out market-by-market rollout plans. A number of non-camera specs are unconfirmed, and according to 9to5Google, a US release isn’t certain. Several hands-on reviewers added that full performance and camera verdicts are held back under embargo until launch.
Right now, Oppo is putting all the spotlight on photography in its pre-launch push. The device shows up on the company’s global event page as “Your Next Camera,” a pitch that’ll get a full reveal when Oppo takes the wraps off the phone on April 21. OPPO
