  • Federal approval unlocks $170 million for Nevada broadband expansion
January 9, 2026, 7:36 PM EST. LAS VEGAS - The National Telecommunications and Information Administration approved Nevada's final BEAD proposal, unlocking more than $170 million of the state's $416 million BEAD allotment. The plan targets high-speed internet for more than 28,000 homes, businesses and community institutions in underserved areas, using fiber, hybrid fiber-coax, fixed wireless and satellite. Deployment could begin later this year, supported by $65 million in private investment and $150 million from ARPA and the Capital Projects Fund. Nevada has also earmarked $275 million for middle-mile projects and holds about $200 million in remaining BEAD funds, though officials await federal guidance on their use. Governor Joe Lombardo said the agreement fulfills a pledge to connect Nevadan households to reliable broadband.
