A leaked poster circulating on China’s Weibo offers an early look at two Honor phones that have not been announced: the Magic 8 Pro Air and the Magic 8 RSR Porsche Design. Honor has said it will unveil the Magic 8 Pro Air on Jan. 19.
The images land as handset makers hunt for upgrades that can still sell in a mature market, from slimmer frames to bigger batteries. For Honor, it is the next step after it launched the Magic8 series in China in October, billing it as an AI flagship lineup. 1
The Porsche Design edition also keeps alive a luxury partnership that Honor and Porsche Design announced in 2023. Porsche Design called the deal “a milestone”, and Honor CEO George Zhao said the aim was “state-of-the-art technology” for the premium segment. 2
Tech site Huawei Central said a Weibo account posted an official-looking family poster that includes the two new models alongside the existing Magic 8 and Magic 8 Pro. It shows the Pro Air with a broad horizontal camera bar holding a large circular ring and a pill-shaped cutout, with the flash set below the bar, while the RSR shifts to a rounded-square camera module with four rings and Porsche Design branding at the bottom. 3
Honor confirmed the Magic 8 Pro Air name in a Weibo post and told users, “See you on January 19th”, without giving specifications or a price. The company framed the phone as a slim flagship while insisting it still carries “Pro” power. 4
A separate sketch leak put the handset at about 6.3 mm thick and 158 grams and suggested it may keep a dedicated “AI button” on the side, Huawei Central reported. The sketch compared the rail-style camera bar to designs used on Google’s Pixel phones and Apple’s iPhone Air. 5
Specs for the Magic 8 RSR remain unconfirmed, but Gizchina reported earlier this week that leaks point to as much as 24 GB of LPDDR5X — a fast memory standard — and a 7,200 mAh silicon-carbon battery, a chemistry used to pack more energy into thinner cells. It also said the phone could run on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 and carry IP69K durability, a high-pressure water-jet rating, alongside the more common IP68 seal. 6
But the images could not be independently verified, and leaked posters and renders often miss late changes. Honor has not confirmed the designs or any of the reported specifications for the RSR model.
Honor has not announced a date for the Magic 8 RSR Porsche Design, or whether it plans a wider release beyond China. The Jan. 19 event should at least answer what the Pro Air is, and whether the Porsche Design badge is coming back quickly.
