Genesis GV90 Launches With 310-Mile Range, Coach Doors

August 20, 2026

SAN FRANCISCO, August 20, 2026, 14:30 PDT

Genesis, Hyundai Motor’s luxury arm (KRX:005380), rolled out the production GV90 electric SUV, which delivers 657 horsepower and a range the company pegs at 310 miles. The Neolun trim swaps out fixed center pillars for reverse-hinged coach doors. The company hasn’t released pricing.

Genesis is launching the GV90, its first full-size SUV and now the brand’s top model. The debut sets the new Genesis up against established U.S. luxury EVs with longer range, while highlighting Korean design and interior tech.

The numbers lay out the buyer’s trade-off. Genesis uses a 123.5-kWh battery for a development target of 310 miles. Lucid Group (NASDAQ:LCID) says its Gravity Grand Touring hits 450 miles on the EPA cycle. General Motors (NYSE:GM) says the Cadillac Escalade IQ goes 465 miles, but gets there with a much bigger 205-kWh pack.

The ranges don’t match up one-to-one. Genesis had internal tests, Lucid uses EPA numbers, while Cadillac goes with its own estimate. So the table is for comparison, not an apples-to-apples efficiency test.

Genesis puts dual motors in both GV90s, good for 590 lb-ft of torque. They’ve included electronic limited-slip differentials front and rear, a multi-chamber air suspension, and rear-wheel steering. The rear wheels turn up to five degrees.

The Neolun Arch Gate is a visual bet. The rear door swings out, then pivots open by itself. Fixed B-pillars are gone, swapped for dual steel beams. There’s a hidden roll cage in the cabin for extra strength.

Safety isn’t just about the cabin. Genesis lists 12 airbags, with a roof airbag to keep the glass covered in a rollover. Battery cells are separated by thermal-runaway protection, and a cloud battery system scans for problems.

The cabin is part of Hyundai’s new software focus. Pleos Connect uses Android Automotive and allows third-party vehicle apps. The company also put a generative AI agent called Gleo in charge of voice commands.

The OLED screen measures 23.6 inches, handling the gauges, maps and media. When the car is parked, the display lifts up 90 millimeters and grows to 24.6 inches. Instead of a regular gauge cluster, there’s now a 25-inch head-up display.

“Technology alone does not create luxury, and design alone does not define luxury,” Hyundai Motor Group Executive Chair Euisun Chung said. Chung said the GV90 brings together AI software, connectivity, safety and design. Company release

Is this a production model?Yes, it’s based on the 2024 Neolun conceptExact trim and feature list by market
What is the range?Genesis says about 310 miles in its own testingOfficial EPA and WLTP figures
How quick is charging?Supposedly 10%-80% in 22 minutes on 350 kWNo numbers yet for cold-weather or multiple charges in a row
When do orders start? No on-sale date yetDetails on when to order, build and take delivery
What’s the price? No pricing infoPricing on all three trims
Crash testing for the doors?Genesis said doors have extra structure, plus 12 airbagsNo third-party crash data yet

Risks: The 310-mile range is still only an early estimate. Actual range may be lower in practice. The coach-style doors add complexity that could increase weight, cost or repair time. Genesis hasn’t released independent crash results or a warranty for the new systems yet.

Genesis took the wraps off the GV90 at San Francisco’s Palace of Fine Arts on August 19, showing the full flagship SUV. But the company didn’t share a price or when buyers can expect delivery.

Further analysis

What did Genesis reveal?
Genesis unveiled the production GV90, its first full-size SUV and new electric flagship. The standard GV90 has seven seats and conventional doors. The GV90 Neolun adds opposing coach doors without a fixed center pillar, while a limited First Edition tops the range.
How much range and power does the GV90 have?
Genesis estimates about 310 miles from a 123.5-kWh battery in the seven-seat model. That figure comes from internal research tests, not an EPA rating. Dual motors produce a combined 657 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque.
How quickly can the Genesis GV90 charge?
Genesis claims a 10%-to-80% charge in 22 minutes using a 350-kW charger. Real charging speed will depend on battery temperature, charger output and conditions. The company has not published cold-weather or repeated-fast-charge results.
How do the Neolun coach doors work?
The front and rear doors open in opposite directions without a fixed B-pillar. The rear door first slides outward, then rotates independently. Genesis says high-strength dual steel beams and a concealed reinforced roll cage replace the structural role of a conventional pillar.
Has the unusual door structure been independently crash-tested?
No independent result was available at the reveal. Genesis disclosed 12 airbags, including a roof airbag, plus reinforced body and battery structures. Buyers still need third-party crash-test data before comparing the design with conventional SUVs.
How does the GV90 compare with the Lucid Gravity and Cadillac Escalade IQ?
The GV90's 310-mile internal estimate trails the Lucid Gravity Grand Touring's 450-mile EPA estimate and Cadillac's 465-mile Escalade IQ estimate. The test methods differ, so the figures are not directly equivalent. Genesis has not disclosed a price, while current listed starting prices are $98,900 for the 2027 Lucid Gravity Grand Touring and $127,405 for the 2026 Escalade IQ.
When will the GV90 go on sale, and what will it cost?
Genesis announced neither U.S. pricing nor an order or delivery date. It also withheld market-by-market equipment and final EPA or WLTP range ratings. Those gaps prevent a complete value comparison today.
