Best Buy’s “Ultimate Upgrade Sale” is running through April 19, with the retailer pushing fresh discounts on Apple devices, TVs, laptops and phones in a spring event that includes iPad models from $299, up to 50% off select TVs and up to $600 off select Windows devices. On its site, Best Buy also listed AirPods Pro 3 at $199.99. Best Buy
That matters because Best Buy is still telling investors demand for electronics is uneven. In March, the retailer said holiday-quarter customer demand for the industry was slightly softer and projected fiscal 2027 comparable sales — a retail measure that strips out the effect of new or closed stores — in a range of down 1% to up 1%.
The sale leans hard on trade-ins, a tactic that can move shoppers off aging devices without relying only on straight markdowns. Best Buy says buyers can get an extra $150 in trade-in value on qualifying Mac laptops toward certain M5 MacBooks, while its trade-in offers page advertises iPhone 17 Pro savings of up to $1,100 with qualified activation and trade-in.
Recent coverage shows how wide the pricing net is. TechRadar highlighted LG’s 48-inch B5 OLED TV, a premium screen format known for deeper blacks and contrast, at $599.99, Android Central flagged Motorola’s Razr Ultra (2025) at $699.99, and 9to5Toys pointed to an MSI Prestige AI laptop at $1,399.99 after a $600 cut.
The deals are not all exclusive, though. Amazon is matching many of the prices and, on some Apple products, is even lower, while Walmart is matching Best Buy’s current AirPods Pro 3 price, limiting how much the chain can differentiate on the splashiest offers alone.
Best Buy executives have been blunt about the backdrop. Chief Executive Corie Barry said last month that holiday-quarter demand was “slightly softer” across the industry and later warned that higher demand for memory components — the chips that store data and help run PCs and phones — was driving “cost inflation and supply uncertainty,” while Chief Financial and Strategy Officer Matt Bilunas said the company still expected a “mixed macro environment.” Evercore ISI analyst Greg Melich said the company’s outlook looked better than feared. But the spring push could still disappoint if higher component costs feed through to sticker prices faster than shoppers are willing to upgrade. Goldman Sachs double-downgraded Best Buy to sell this week and cut its price target, or estimate of fair share value, to $59 from $76, warning that rising memory costs could lift computer and laptop prices and hurt demand later in 2026.
For now, Best Buy has a short runway. The promotion ends at 11:59 p.m. CT on April 19, and the retailer says quantities are limited and rainchecks are unavailable.
