Vault Minerals Starts Week With 20% Gain, Regis Arbitrage Narrows

Vault Minerals shares go into Monday trading in Australia after a big selloff Friday cut into their strongest weekly run in months. The ASX was shut at the time of writing, with trading set to start again later Monday. Shares climbed in the first four days last week, including a 14.7% surge Monday, but then fell 26 Australian cents on Friday. This matters, since Vault is trading now with investors weighing both its better production outlook and the set share-exchange terms from its planned merger with Regis Resources.

Regis Resources jumps 18.6% for the week as McPhillamys reserve comes back

Regis Resources is set to start Monday’s session in Australia holding onto a big weekly gain. Shares dropped 1.98% on Friday, tracking weaker bullion prices. Stock closed at A$6.94. The company put out a new study for its McPhillamys project in New South Wales, which has been stalled. Regis has put McPhillamys back in its growth column, though only on paper for now. That’s important as it tries to strike an all-share merger with Vault Minerals. The updated study doesn’t resolve the project’s permit or legal issues or move it to construction.

Regis Resources shares rise 19% this week with McPhillamys reserve back

Regis Resources dropped 2.0% on Friday after telling the market it has rebuilt reserves at its stalled McPhillamys project in New South Wales. Shares ended at A$6.94, down from A$7.08 on Thursday. The drop hardly slowed this week’s rally. Regis jumped 18.6% since last Friday, outpacing the S&P/ASX 200, which added about 0.3% for the week. Gold miners started strong but faded later.

Regis Resources Jumps 13% on Gold Move, Merger Talk Lingers

Regis Resources Limited surged 13.33% to A$6.63 on Monday, according to Trading Economics. The gain came as gold miners rallied and the ASX 200 closed 110 points higher at 8,914.0, Market Index reported. Regis moved up with Vault Minerals, Evolution Mining, Northern Star Resources and several other gold stocks. Gold miners led gains as gold and metals bounced back, oil traded lower and bond yields eased. COMEX gold futures added 2.1% to US$4,330 an ounce. The Gold Sub-Index jumped 9.1%, the sharpest rise in over five years, according to Market Index. Higher gold prices lift miner revenue, and lower oil cuts onsite diesel bills. Both those moves can fuel a strong rally in gold shares.
