Ryanair Berlin Base Closure: Why Cheap Flights From Germany Are Back in the Spotlight
Ryanair will close its Berlin Brandenburg Airport base on Oct. 24, 2026, halving flights to and from Berlin and relocating seven aircraft to other European airports. The airline cited high airport charges and Germany’s tax regime, while Berlin airport officials said they were surprised and not planning fee hikes. Ryanair expects Berlin passenger numbers to drop from 4.5 million to 2.2 million in 2027. Up to 500 jobs may be affected, according to union Verdi.
