Microsoft hikes Surface PC prices as RAM crunch wipes out sub-$1,000 models
Microsoft raised prices on all current-generation Surface PCs in its U.S. online store, with no models now under $1,000. The 12-inch Surface Pro starts at $1,049.99 and the 15-inch Surface Laptop at $1,599.99. Microsoft cited higher memory and component costs. Analysts expect memory shortages to drive up PC prices and eliminate sub-$500 laptops by 2028.
