Ubisoft has canceled development of Alterra, a social simulation game inspired by Animal Crossing, after nearly three years in production at its Montreal studio, Insider Gaming reported Tuesday. Employees were informed and sent home, but no layoffs occurred. Ubisoft did not officially announce the project before its cancellation. Shares closed at €5.16 in Paris, up from €5.01 the previous day.
