Motorola Razr 70 and Razr 70 Ultra leaks reveal wood finish, new colors as launch nears

Motorola’s next Razr flip phones look close to launch, with a string of leak reports over the last day showing wood, suede-like Alcantara and new Pantone color finishes for the Razr 70 and Razr 70 Ultra. The images suggest Motorola is keeping the hardware mostly intact and leaning again on materials and finish to make its clamshell foldables — flip phones that fold vertically — stand out. 1

That matters because Motorola is no longer a fringe player in foldables in North America. Counterpoint data published in recent weeks showed the company reaching about 44% share of the region’s foldable market in 2025, with Samsung still ahead at just over 50%, after shipments in the category rose 28% from a year earlier. 2

On the higher end, 91mobiles, citing OnLeaks and Android Headlines, reported that fresh press renders showed the Razr 70 Ultra in Pantone Cocoa Wood and an Orient Blue Alcantara finish. Android Central said the phone was also tipped to keep its 4-inch outer screen and 7-inch inner display, pointing to a refresh that changes the feel more than the shape. 1

For the base model, PhoneArena reported leaked images of Pantone Sporting Green, Hematite and Violet Ice versions of what it said would likely be sold internationally as the Razr 70. The same report listed a 6.9-inch main display, a 3.63-inch outer panel, dual 50-megapixel rear cameras, a 32-megapixel selfie camera, a 4,500 mAh battery and 33-watt charging. 3

If that holds, the update looks evolutionary. Motorola’s current U.S. Razr Ultra and Razr, unveiled in April 2025, already leaned hard on unusual materials, with wood and Alcantara on the premium model, 7.0-inch and 4.0-inch displays on the Ultra, 6.9-inch and 3.6-inch displays on the Razr, and starting prices of $1,299.99 and $699.99, respectively, according to Motorola. 4

Regional naming is still a bit messy. PhoneArena said the base phone may arrive in the United States as the Razr (2026) and abroad as the Razr 70, while the top model could split between Razr Ultra (2026) and Razr 70 Ultra; CNET’s roundup this week said Motorola was likely to announce the next Razr line soon, and 91mobiles said an April unveiling looked plausible from Motorola’s usual timing. 3

That keeps Motorola aimed squarely at Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip line in premium flip foldables, with Google still much smaller in the segment. Motorola’s play remains fairly plain: large outer screens, distinctive finishes and enough price separation from Samsung to keep the Razr line relevant. 5

But there are risks. 91mobiles noted that one odd detail in the Ultra renders — no visible selfie-camera cutout on the inner screen — could simply be a render omission, not proof of a camera hidden beneath the display, and broader cost pressure is building across Android phones. Reuters reported in February that IDC’s Francisco Jeronimo called the memory squeeze a “tsunami-like shock,” while Nabila Popal described it as a “structural reset” for the market. 1

Motorola has not announced the next Razr phones. Still, with leaks landing within hours of each other and the last Razr refresh having been unveiled on April 24, the company looks close to showing whether design-led tweaks are enough to stretch its foldable run into another cycle. 4
