Leaked marketing images reveal Samsung Electronics is working on a magnetic Qi2 power bank designed to attach magnetically to the back of its yet-to-be-released Galaxy S26 phones. This hints the upcoming flagship models might come with built-in magnets. According to Android Authority, the accessory — named EB-U2500 “Magnetic Wireless Charging Powerbank” — surfaced shortly after it was spotted in a Wireless Power Consortium database last month. Until now, Samsung has relied on add-on cases to align magnets with Qi2 accessories on its Galaxy phones. But a leak from Android Headlines about the EB-U2500 suggests the Galaxy S26, S26+, and S26 Ultra will build magnets directly into the devices. When the Wireless Power Consortium launched Qi2, they revealed the Magnetic Power Profile was “based on MagSafe technology contributed by Apple.” According to WPC executive director Paul Struhsaker, Qi2’s magnetic attachment eliminates the need for consumers to “fuss” over aligning their phone and charger.
Magnets might be tiny hardware for Samsung, but they have the power to draw customers deeper into its accessories ecosystem—especially if the upcoming Galaxy launch happens as leakers predict.
