- TCL has launched the K70 Power 4G in Thailand, led by a 6,500mAh battery and MediaTek’s Helio G100 chip
- Thai tech sites put online pricing around 13,090–14,090 baht, depending on memory configuration
- Analysts say rising component costs are squeezing the lower end of the smartphone market
TCL has launched the K70 Power 4G in Thailand, a battery-focused Android phone that is now listed for sale on Lazada, according to a report by Gizguide on Wednesday. Gizguide put the price at 13,090 baht for the 4GB/256GB version and 14,090 baht for the 8GB/256GB model. (Gizguide)
The rollout matters because TCL is still leaning into LTE-only (4G) devices in 2026, betting that endurance and “tough” features can sell even as 5G spreads. Thai tech site TechXcite said TCL is also lining up a standard K70 using the same Helio G100 Turbo chip and 120Hz screen, but with a smaller 5,200mAh battery and a 4GB/128GB memory option. Component costs are not helping budget phones. Counterpoint’s Senior Analyst Shivani Parashar said “premiumization remains a clear trend,” with nearly one in three smartphones expected to be priced above $500 in 2026, while Senior Analyst Soumen Mandal said the smartphone SoC market should still post “double-digit revenue growth” this year despite weaker unit volumes. Droidsans said the K70 Power ships with a 6.8-inch LCD display with a 120Hz refresh rate — how often the screen updates — and HD+ resolution, plus a 50-megapixel main camera paired with a 0.08-megapixel macro camera and an 8-megapixel selfie camera. It also described a “Helio G100 Turbo” chipset paired with TCL’s NXTURBO performance software, up to 8GB of RAM with virtual memory expansion, 256GB storage and microSD expansion up to 2TB. MediaTek markets the Helio G100 as a 6-nanometer 4G system-on-chip, or the main processor package that combines computing, graphics and connectivity, designed to cut power use and support higher-refresh displays. The company says the chip uses an octa-core CPU with two Arm Cortex-A76 cores and an Arm Mali-G57-class GPU. (MediaTek)
Some details around the package look aimed at the “workhorse” crowd. Techrato reported that the phone keeps a 3.5mm headphone jack, uses a USB-C port limited to USB 2.0 speeds, and comes with a cable and TPU case, while the 33W charger is sold separately. (تکراتو – زندگی با تکنولوژی)
Handset listings also point to a wider identity than the Thailand storefront suggests. Kimovil lists the phone under the name “TCL K70 Power” and tags it with the model identifier “T522E,” alongside Android 16 and a 6,500mAh battery. (Kimovil)
But the launch has obvious limits. Russian tech site DGL said the standard K70 had not yet appeared in open retail sales at the time of its write-up, and that the K70 and K70 Power are positioned around long battery life while staying on 4G connectivity. (DGL.RU — Цифровой мир)
TCL is stepping into a crowded stretch of the market, where Xiaomi, Oppo and Transsion-owned brands push aggressive spec sheets and heavy promotions. A 4G-only phone at mid-range pricing will need more than a big battery to stand out.
For now, the company has not set out a broader release plan. Yugatech said availability beyond Thailand is unclear, including whether the model will reach the Philippines. (Yugatech)
