Questions in English

Post autor: silvetti »

Hi Guys,

Non-polish speaking guy here, hope you don't mind.

What is the maximum speed you guys are getting with Orange mobile internet (abonement) ?

Does anyone use a Orange Free (abonement) card on an iPhone ?

Hope someone can help me, and sorry for the intrusion! :)

Cheers!

The speed is different, I'm getting about 4 Mb/s, but someone are getting more.

What is your technology? 3G, 2G, CDMA?

Mostly Poznan center.

Yes, CDMA not option.

LTE might be :D iPhone 5 on the way :D

I have Free na Karte from Orange that has limited speed, never get more than 8 or 9 in my phone, in my country used to get 14 at least so its a network limitation not phone one.

Was looking for what would be the best mobile internet service in Poland (more specifically Poznan).

Thanks for the answers!

The fastest mobile internet service in Poland for now is LTE from PLUS (about 15-40Mb/s). Everything depends for what you need this service, for how long you will need it, how much GB you need fore use and how much money you can spend for it. There is many various options for mobile internet in Poland so you should give us more details.

Thanks for the quick reply :)

I want to spend between 40-60zl per month.

The card is to be used in my iPhone, most of these mobile internet also have calls at an extra cost but since I will almost make no calls (have company phone for that) I only need the data :)

I'm thinking Plus LTE might be my best option...

Or do you suggest something else ?

How many GB you need? Speed is the most important?

silvetti: I usually buy the "Orange Free na karte" starter kit when I'm going to Poland. For mail/data on iPhone you don't need anything else - orange is fast enough. For voice I use the company phone.

So getting over 10Mbps in your phone is a priority for you? :zdziwko: That's unparalleled, so to speak... IMHO of course.

If you want to share your internet with other devices and use them to stream you want as many Mbits as possible :D

And also, If maximum speed you get is 4Mbits (on the plan, like Plus) then when your signal is not so strong you won't even get that.

So I always want maximum speed possible :D

I've scratched out Play as the download and especially the upload is ridiculous 4Mbits/512Kbps, only when going to the maximum speed one (6Mbits) you get the 1Mbit upload...

So I'm kinda undecided between Plus and Orange, I know Orange compresses images alot... Anyone can give me info on Plus ?

And also, long post I know, does anyone use an iPhone with one of these dedicated mobile data plans ?

Thanks for all your replies :)

Make your own test - starter kits are pretty cheap. Buy both of them, check the performance in the places you want the net to use. All of the theory does not help you, if the network coverage is bad.

Ps. I'm using the iPhone, but only with the pre-payed data plans. For me, orange works perfect, but I'm not streaming, I'm only a simple mail/communicator/VoIP user.

Already did that :D

Bought Play, Plus and already had Orange :)
All pre-paid.

Problem is that most of them limit the speed due to the fact that they are prepaid.

Plus I spend extra 10zl to unlock the 4Mbits but the upload is still too slow :(
Orange limits speed to 7,2Mbits from what I saw on their website.
Plus I'm not actually sure.

With none of them I have been able to break the 10Mbits barrier, at least Play is honest, they say 4 you get 4 :D Orange they say up to 42 you get 4 LOL :D

Or due the fact, that the net is overloaded or not fully developed. You can try late in the night - if there is no better performance, I wouldn't believe in more speed even on contract SIM.

Did you check, if there is a bottle neck in the WiFi interface? Same problems on cable connection?

Anyway: iPhone 5 has LTE (IIRC only 1.8GHz) - did you try this way?

Currently I have 4S, the 5 will only get here middle next month (on order).

I am going to wait to have it and test LTE on it on those 7 day trial contracts.
If LTE is not amazing as I hope :D I will probably go with Orange Free on those bez modem plans which would run me 50zl for 15gb data plus night transfers.

Do you know anyone with iPhone 5 and LTE ? What do they say about speed ?

I'm living in Germany. Unfortunately only one provider there has LTE on 1.8GHz - T-Mobile - and nobody of my friends uses this carrier. All other providers have only 0.8GHz solutions, iPhone5 does not work with this frequency.

Orange Free na Karte speed is not limited. I can reach speeds of more than 25Mb/s using HSPA-DC modem. iPhone 4S supports HSUPA networks 14.4 Mbit/s (such speed can be achieved only in a laboratory).

Awesome news! :D
True, iPhone 4S HSDPA 14.4Mbits down and HSUPA 5.8Mbits up :)

I said speed was limited because when you login to Orange online on the plan it says speed is limited to 7.2 :D

Good that I'm wrong :D couldn't be happer! :)
