Etihad Orders 10 Boeing Jets, Raising Talk of Hard-to-Get 787 Slots

Etihad Airways is nearing a deal for 10 more Boeing 787 jets, according to people briefed on the matter. The order would boost the Abu Dhabi carrier’s long-haul fleet, as early slots for wide-body deliveries are tight. Wide-bodies are twin-aisle planes mostly used for international routes. Boeing F-47 Puts Japan’s GCAP Sixth-Generation Fighter Plan Under Fresh Pressure

Japan’s fighter jet decision faces renewed attention now that Boeing’s F-47 is picking up funding support in the U.S. Tokyo, meanwhile, is pressing ahead with its joint fighter initiative alongside Britain and Italy—both pushing toward the 2035 target to phase out the Mitsubishi F-2. Think stealth, extended range, sophisticated sensors, and close integration with uncrewed aircraft.

The defense bid has been fueled by a widening U.S. military operation in Iran that followed joint U.S.-Israeli strikes over the weekend. The campaign has included Tomahawk cruise missiles and air strikes, according to a briefing by the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
