JR Central’s 385 Series Breaks Cover: What Changes On The Shinano Before 2029
Central Japan Railway Co. unveiled a pilot 385-series train for the Limited Express Shinano, with test runs starting May 13 and commercial service planned around fiscal 2029. The new model, featuring advanced tilting and upgraded interiors, will replace the 383-series on the Nagoya-Nagano route. JR Central has not finalized production numbers or formations, pending test results and demand.
