Colorado Kills Tech-Backed Right-to-Repair Rollback in Blow to Cisco, IBM
A Colorado House committee voted 7-4 to kill SB26-090, which would have exempted some IT equipment in “critical infrastructure” from the state’s right-to-repair law. The bill had passed the Senate earlier this month. The decision leaves in place repair protections for digital electronics that began Jan. 1, including limits on “parts pairing.” Tech companies including Cisco and IBM had backed the measure.
