- Pixel 11 starts at $899. Pro versions start at $1,099.
- Google said its Tensor G6 chip can run on-device AI as much as 3.5 times faster.
Alphabet (NASDAQ:GOOGL) rolled out its Pixel 11 phones, emphasizing a boost in on-device Gemini speeds with this year’s refresh. The Pixel 11 launches at $899 and hits stores August 20.
The commercial question is simple. Buyers have to pick if private, on-device AI counts for more than a fresh round of big hardware changes.
Google stuck with three slab phones and bumped base storage to 256GB. The 6.3-inch Pixel 11 Pro is $200 over the entry model. Pro XL, the bigger one, costs $200 more again.
| Model | Display | Starting storage | Starting price | Retail availability |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Pixel 11 | 6.3-inch screen | 256GB | $899 | August 20, 2026 |
| Pixel 11 Pro | 6.3-inch screen | 256GB | $1,099 | August 20, 2026 |
| Pixel 11 Pro XL | 6.8-inch screen | 256GB | $1,299 | August 20, 2026 |
| Pixel 11 Pro Fold | 6.5-inch external, 8-inch internal display | 256GB | $1,899 | August 20, 2026 |
Google’s new Tensor G6 chip can run Gemini Nano on device. The company says it’s its “fastest, most powerful chip yet.” Google’s own tests show performance gains over Tensor G5. No outside benchmarks.
| Tensor G6 metric | Google’s claimed change versus Tensor G5 | Evidence status |
|---|---|---|
| Web browsing | 25% faster | Internal pre-production test data |
| Application launches | 15% faster | Internal pre-production tests |
| TPU computing power | 50% more | Manufacturer measured |
| On-device AI speed | Up to 3.5x faster | Internal tests by workload |
| On-device AI energy use | Up to 3.5x lower | Internal tests by workload |
The added local power helps run Magic Capture, Rambler, and a bigger Live Translate. Google says Live Translate now handles supported content on device, which means less need for the cloud. Language, region, and accuracy restrictions still stick.
The camera gap is still used to push upgrades. Pixel 11 gets a new 5x telephoto lens and can hit 30x digital zoom. The Pro models step up to bigger 48-megapixel ultrawide and telephoto sensors, with zoom that goes to 120x.
| Model | Rear cameras | Maximum zoom | Typical battery capacity | Memory |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Pixel 11 | 48MP main, 13MP ultrawide, 10.8MP 5x tele | 30x | 4,985mAh | 12GB |
| Pixel 11 Pro | 50MP main, 48MP ultrawide, 48MP 5x tele | 120x | 4,850mAh | 12GB or 16GB |
| Pixel 11 Pro XL | 50MP main, 48MP ultrawide, 48MP 5x tele | 120x | 5,115mAh | 12GB or 16GB |
| Pixel 11 Pro Fold | 48MP main, 10.5MP ultrawide, 10.8MP tele | 30x | 4,750mAh | 16GB |
T-Mobile US (NASDAQ:TMUS) shows the Pro XL with a 5,115mAh battery, the biggest for a standard phone. Battery size isn’t the only factor for run time, since screens, radios, and software play a role too.
Google cut the base Pixel’s camera bar by 40%. Pro models get screens that now claim 3,600 nits at peak brightness. There’s also a new coating, which Google says has over double the scratch resistance of last year’s version.
Charging speeds don’t vary much. Both Pixel 11 and Pixel 11 Pro work with Qi 2.2 wireless charging, maxing out at 25 watts. Google said the Pro XL can pick up around 15 hours of battery in 15 minutes if you use the right charger.
HiLight, which uses LEDs around the camera bar for notifications, is only on the Pro models. The lights tell you when Gemini is listening, thinking or answering. Users can pick colors for different callers.
Google is sticking with security as a key plank in its longer-term ownership message. The Titan M3 chip brings post-quantum cryptography to secure boot. Google says all Pixel 11 phones will get OS, security and Pixel Drop updates for seven years.
Google says the Pixel 11 Pro Fold is about 10% lighter and one millimeter thinner than before. The new model brings 25-watt Qi 2.2 charging and a sign-to-text accessibility tool.
Risks: Most of Google’s biggest AI and speed improvements are still coming just from the company itself. Features depend on language and country. Actual battery and camera results need third-party tests.
