The 15-year fixed mortgage posted 5.45%, and the 5/1 adjustable-rate product — which resets after five years — stood at 5.34%. Selma Hepp, chief economist at Cotality, noted the Federal Reserve is taking “a cautious approach” on potential rate cuts in 2026. According to Bankrate, these are the lowest average mortgage rates seen since 2022.
